funny how we take ‘bouncers’ to be the standard bearers for fighting
since geoff thompson
when truth is bouncers = strength in numbers, often untrained, usually dealing with drunks with poor motor control and visual impairment.
The two biggest influences on what I do.
I am honoured to have been taught Wing Chun Gung-Fu by Leung, Kwok Keung. I started training with him in 1993 and continued until he passed away in 2004. He was (and continues to be, my beloved ‘sifu’. I learnt the entire ‘Hei Ban’ or Opera Company/Red Boat line of Wing Chun from him and am one (of only two) inheritors of the system outside of mainland China. I hope I can keep the torch burning and banner raised for this line of southern Gung Fu.
I am blessed to receive guidance from Jesse Glover, who has been a huge influence over what I do since I met him in 2004. A practitioner of Non-Classical Gung Fu, Jesse has given me an understanding of the importance of core, simplistic and explosive skills. He has also helped fine tune my body mechanics.
My coven of fighters had an opportunity to do some grappling. I’m privileged that a top grappling coach and his female assistant took my guys through some ground fighting basics. With some luck, we may have laid the foundations for something special as there is an opportunity for my guys to receive regular grappling coaching. Watch this space, bitches.
I’m a bit sore. My conditioning is good despite not having grappled in a little while.
Close the door on protein powder. say no to pills and concoctions. no creatine, Udo oil. no glutamine. no HMB, testosterone, HGH. No 5 hour energy, Rockstar or Red Bull. No blending milk and powder. No blending bananas. No more blender. throw the blender out of the fuckin window (at a ‘personal trainer’ preferably) No ephedrine, no diet pills. No thermogenics. No health food shops, no bullshit advice from body builders who know nothing about nothing. No bullshit advice from doctors who know nothing about nutrition. No nutritionists, personal trainers and bootcamp bollocks. No crossfit, P90x, body for fuckin life. No wii fit, no gym fees, no working out like hampsters in a cage on elliptical trainers. No fuckin jogging. I hate joggers. No running, (see ‘ joggers’). no arguing, bickering or politics.
this is the first rule of getting fit and being a functional fighter.
friday afternoon. decided to make my priority a couple of other things other than martial arts for a couple of days. (all interrelated though). feel good. eating well, really well in fact. need to stay focused and set myself some other life goals.
video showing boxing footwork drills;
Tim Ferriss on deconstructing activities and overcoming fear (copy and paste the link into URL);
am; there was sun, so once again i went to park (hate fekkin gyms)… did DC protocol for fighting.
pm; rotations with pressure, punch drills with resistance, pad work, luk sau.
i had a few vids on youtube… lots of people gave good feedback. a few however, didnt dig what i was doing… so it was easier for me just to pull my vids down than have to deal with anonymous clowns e-mailing me. one of these clowns however took it upon himself to suggest that what i was doing was wrong and that he was faster (and presumably better) than me. he also commented that what i was doing was wrong as it didn’t fit in with his way of doing things. obviously the f*ckin c*nt couldn’t put up or shut up when i asked him to give me evidence of his prowess and continued to write stupidness under the veil of anonymity. here is one such e-mail from the c*nt;
“Very good my friend.
I am not full of it.
I have on my own or from my own seriously keen interest reserched Martial Arts for nearly 30 years now. With dozens of books and some good years of training, I’ve put together quite the knowledge base and have had my own students as well.
Both of whom turned out to not be the sort one should train to be able to fight ‘better’ if you catch my drift.
It may be a slight thing with your breathing while where I’m comming from is that every little thing counts for something no matter how small or insignificant. It’s how I was able to predict several moves and nearly the whole fight ahead of time with some of my fellow students. I have spent most of my practicing time in a way in Tae Kwon Do while this is not ‘my’ art. I hardly ever used it in my Tae Kwon Do class of all places and I was never called out by my Grandmaster while nearly all the other students were when they derravated.
I’ve trained in many different Martial Arts and have even performed some complicated and dangerous moves simply from memory with not one bit of practice. All the while looking like I had been doing these things for years.
Not to mention some of the things that I have done that pretty much people tell us we can’t do.
People are not animals and it’s time we realized how special and important our lives really are.
And please don’t toy with people. It doesn’t help either side.
Anyway, my body is pretty broken at this point so don’t expect to recieve some legendary video from me after a Rambo style several month long training montage.
I’m working on it, while I have given up the nonsense of showing off at least in part because I have already seen how badly such silly contests can turn out.
God Speed to You and yours.”
i have one message for you c*nt. i trained 10 hours in the last two days. consider yourself blessed to be under the protection of a higher power who has prevented our paths from crossing.
went park. sunny day. did some FMA stickwork mostly just to work on footwork. then went over to monkey bars and did some pull ups.
No Wing Chun. No Chinese Boxing. No Non-Classical Gung Fu. No submission fighting.
No, no more.
Only pure function.
Trained (Non-Classical Gung Fu) at Jesse Glover’s; punches, closing and rotation/sticking.
In Vedic astrology Rahu is seen as a demon who does his best to plunge any area of life he controls into chaos, mystery and cruelty. He is associated with the world of material manifestation and worldy desire; and random, uncontrolled growth without wisdom or understanding. Rahu is a karaka or indicator of worldly fame, greed, high intelligence, manipulation, obsessive behaviour, foreigners, mass disease, dementia and inertia. However, if used the right way, Rahu can be instrumental in strengthening a person’s power and converting even the strongest enemy into a friend.
