F*ck Training

Posted in Martial Arts and Training with tags on August 30, 2013 by ctkwingchun

My fam got back so fuck training this week.  I’ve been staying up late and sleeping in late – waking up with just enough time to make it to work.  I might train next week, but probably not because I’m going to spend more time with my fam.

I might stretch, though.

When

Instead of saying, ‘If it happens then I will take action,’ the warrior says, ‘When it happens then I will be ready.’

Don’t you know your secret’s safe with me
(My heart is in too deep, my heart is in too deep baby)
All your worries can be put to sleep, can be put to sleep
(My heart is in too deep baby)
Don’t you know your secrets safe with me
(My heart is in too deep, my heart is in too deep baby)
All your worries can be put to sleep, can be put to sleep
(My heart is in too deep baby)

-Sam Smith (Safe With Me)

Go It Alone

No one showed up this AM. Was expecting one person, but they late canceled with good reason.

Sick last few days and bummy knee.  Lots of vitamin D, vitamin C, gargling with oil of oregano and salt.  Lots of self-acupuncture as well.  However, after a few days of being down, it’s highly beneficial to finally get one’s body moving again.  Fever, sweats and sore throat?  Work out hard for a short interval.  Cold chills and body aches?  Work out slow at a slightly medium interval.

Today: skipping 15 minutes, bag 30 minutes, solo rolling and solo shrimping.

Ghosts of Old Things

Posted in Quotes and Articles with tags on August 22, 2013 by ctkwingchun

“There is a time in the life of every boy when he for the first time takes the backward view of life. Perhaps that is the moment when he crosses the line into manhood. The boy is walking through the street of his town. He is thinking of the future and of the figure he will cut in the world. Ambitions and regrets awake within him. Suddenly something happens; he stops under a tree and waits as for a voice calling his name. Ghosts of old things creep into his consciousness; the voices outside of himself whisper a message concerning the limitations of life. From being quite sure of himself and his future he becomes not at all sure. If he be an imaginative boy a door is torn open and for the first time he looks out upon the world, seeing, as though they marched in procession before him, the countless figures of men who before his time have come out of nothingness into the world, lived their lives and again disappeared into nothingness. The sadness of sophistication has come to the boy. With a little gasp he sees himself as merely a leaf blown by the wind through the streets of his village. He knows that in spite of all the stout talk of his fellows he must live and die in uncertainty, a thing blown by the winds, a thing destined like corn to wilt in the sun.”
― Sherwood Anderson, Winesburg, Ohio: A Group of Tales of Ohio Small Town Life

Cook It Yourself

“Magic
Sandra’s seen a leprechaun,
Eddie touched a troll,
Laurie danced with witches once,
Charlie found some goblins gold.
Donald heard a mermaid sing,
Susy spied an elf,
But all the magic I have known
I’ve had to make myself.”
― Shel Silverstein, Where the Sidewalk Ends

Like Water Part 2

Posted in Quotes and Articles with tags on August 19, 2013 by ctkwingchun

No one will hit you harder than life itself.

It doesn’t matter how you hit back.

It’s about how much you can take, and keep fighting…

how much you can suffer and keep moving forward.

That’s how you win.

I believe in you

Like Water

Posted in Quotes and Articles with tags on August 18, 2013 by ctkwingchun

A little bird flew very far to a very distant land. When it got there it found it was a cold, freezing land and the bird froze to death.

A cow passed by and took a dump right on top of him. The warm shit that fell on him melted the ice, and he was resurrected. Alive again, but still buried, he started chirping.

A cat passed by and heard his cries, and dug him out of the shit. And then the cat ate the bird.

Moral of the story: The person who takes a dump on you isn’t always your enemy, and the person who takes you out of the shit isn’t always your friend!
