Fight, Fight, Fight

They got these commercials on TV and at the movies: “Join the army.  Fight.”

Fight for your freedom.  Fight for your life.  Fight for your parking spot.

I’m at the beach breathing in the sea air off an island and I’m thinking, sometimes it’s not time to fight.  Sometimes it’s time to just let it all in.  Let those feelings wash all over and…yield.

Receive what comes.  Follow what goes.

Play Fighting

This morning I played Siu Nim Tao.

Then I played the other two empty hand forms.

I played the Jong.

I played Chi Sau.

The next time I’m in the gym and get in the ring, I’ll play fighting.

Diagnosis

She walks through the door and immediately I scan her over.
-Overweight
-Frumpy clothes
-Limp on one side
-Wet noodle handshake

She opens her mouth to talk.
-Nervous laughter
-Sighing

During the intake I don’t just write down her complaints.
-Dark circles under her eyes
-Remnants of a cold sore
-Fidgets with her feet
-Tells me too many things that she suffers from
-Tries to get sympathy from me

While placing the needles, I palpate for location.
-Painful around the heart
-Painful on several points on the inside leg
-Taut in the mid-back
-Oily around the face

So what’s the difference between this and fighting?
